When purchasing silver bars, investors have a wide range of weights to choose from. While certainly larger than the more common weights, 100 oz bars are a great opportunity to purchase silver at a lower rate per ounce than smaller-sized bars. The particular bars youll find in this listing are varied, which means they could come from any mint. Right now, you can purchase 100 oz Vintage Silver Bars online at Provident Metals.

Bar Highlights:

  • Ships to you in plastic sleeves or bags!
  • Vintage bar option!
  • Contains 100 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • The obverse and the reverse fields will feature varied designs.
  • Please note that these bars come from various mints with different designs.

Each of these 100 oz Vintage Bars in this online Provident Metals listing will arrive in protective packaging. This may consist of either a plastic sleeve or a bag. While each bar will contain a minimum purity of .999, we cannot specify which style or brand you will receive. There are numerous mints that produce silver bars, and we will ship whichever brands we have in inventory when your payment clears. At Provident Metals, we are unable to cherry-pick specific bars for individual customer orders. You also could receive matching designs when ordering multiple bars in this listing.

Design

Varied designs may be present on the obverse and reverse of these 100 oz Silver Bars. The obverse side typically will contain the mint logo as well as various hallmarks. This might include the bars weight, purity, and fineness. While the reverse could contain some design features, often this side of the bar is intentionally left blank.

History

While silver was possibly discovered as far as 5000 BC, the actual first mining of this metal is generally dated to 3000 BC in Turkey. Usually mixed with other minerals and metals, the miners came up with a refining process known as cupellation. This procedure involved melting the ore at different temperatures in a porous dish known as a cupel. Hot air is then blasted onto the surface, which partially vaporizes the impurities while also absorbing them into the cupels porous structure. In order for the silver to be considered investment grade, it must have a purity of .999 or higher.
