{{/presale}}Between May and August 1945, the horrors of World War II finally came to an end as Nazi Germany surrendered to the Allies in Europe and, later on, Imperial Japan surrendered in the Pacific Theater. The US-Australian alliance in the Pacific Theater was one of the most important and successful of the war, helping the two nations push back the Japanese in the famous island-hopping campaign. Today, you have the opportunity to purchase 2020 US Australian World War II 75th Anniversary 1/10 oz Silver Coin online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
World War II raged across Europe and Asia from 1939 to 1945. The war was going in favor of the Axis Powers until Japans attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, pulled America out of its neutral stance and made the nation an active player in the war. America mobilized its massive population and industrial base to fight a war on two fronts, being the only nation to successfully fight such a war during the conflict. In the Pacific Theater, this meant a deep relationship with Australia as an ally.
Obverse
On the obverse side of the 2020 US Australian World War II 75th Anniversary 1/10 oz Silver Coin is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This bust of Her Majesty is the sixth-generation effigy in use on Australian coins and the first since 1966 to include the Queens shoulders in the image. The Queen is aged 89 years in this design and wears the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. Inscriptions here include Elizabeth II, Australia, 1/10 oz 9999 Ag, 2020, and 10 Cents.
Reverse
The reverse of 2020 US Australian World War II 75th Anniversary 1/10 oz Silver Coins includes a dove. A universal symbol of peace, the dove flies into view in front-facing relief with a wreath of olive branches around its figure. Inscriptions on this side include End of World War II along the top rocker and 75th Anniversary below. There is also a P mint mark from the Perth Mint on this side.
History
The United States and Australia fought closely with one another during World War II as the Allies sought to push back Imperial Japan. Most of the collaboration came on the high seas where the two allies fought intense naval engagements with the Imperial Japanese Navy. The war in the Pacific did not end until the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The result showed Japan that it was futile to continue on with a war that had an inevitable outcome, but would result in countless more lives lost on both sides.
