The Triumph Book: HEROES” is a compilation of 27 first-person stories from veterans representing a variety of ranks and wars, beginning with World War II up through our recent conflicts. Originally written to increase patriotism and to better appreciate our military, after it was published, author Melanie Davis learned it is an effective resource for assisting our military as they gain wisdom from their peers and are able to recognize their own Triumph Stories. Reading the examples of others overcoming challenges provides a path that helps people believe it is possible to surmount their personal adversities. The stories in this book are fascinating and inspiring to everyone, military and civilian.

The Triumph Book: HEROES

” literally starts with a bang as the first sentence begins, “Well, there goes my legs!” Travis Greene lost both his legs in an IED explosion, along with all the members of his platoon standing beside him. It is a story of overcoming and triumph as Travis has gone on to compete in the Warrior Games and develop a sports program for all those who are disabled in his community.

Some of the other stories featured in “HEROES” include:

– The experiences of a Tuskegee Airman

-A Cold War veteran who guarded Albert Spear, the architect of death and human destruction, at the Spandau Prison and who witnessed the escape of three East Germans

– A young Army woman and her experience serving in Afghanistan which sets the ideal example of how men and women in the military can work together

– The victorious battle to overcome PTSD told by a Marine shot during the Invasion of Fallujah on Veterans’ Day

– The experience of a bomber shot down over France and his time in a German prisoner-of-war camp
