Types of Silver Bars at Provident Metals

There are three main types of silver bars sold at Provident Metals

  • Cast: Cast bars represent the earliest form of metal bars. Silver shot or ingots are put into a mold, then heated, then cooled. Once cooled, the bar is removed from the mold, and design elements are usually given to just one side of the bar.
  • Hand-Poured: These silver bars are made by pouring molten silver into a mold. One side of the bar is left exposed to cool. These bars are called hand-poured as they give the appearance of being made by hand.
  • Minted Ingot: Hand-poured and cast bars are made by a similar process. Minted Ingots meanwhile go through a more unique process of being made. Blanks (solid silver with no design elements) are put in a machine that stamps the design on the blank using thousands of pounds of pressure.
