The Royal Australian Mint offers a wide range of silver and gold bullion coins to investors and collectors. Few of those collections are as popular as its Lunar New Year coins. Issued in 1 oz silver and a variety of gold weights, these coins are popular because the reverse face bears new images of the lunar animals for each date mark. Provident Metals now has Royal Australian Mint 1/20 oz Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.

  • Available from random years with various designs!
  • Limited mintages!
  • Contains 1/20 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.

When you buy a Royal Australian Mint 1/20 oz Gold Coin from this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin inside of an individual protective plastic capsule. The coins are chosen at random by Provident Metals after your payment has been processed. We cannot guarantee the specific coin date and design you receive when buying through this listing. Once your payment has cleared, we select your coin or coins from our available stock at that point in time. Please remember that it is possible to get coins with matching dates and designs when you purchase multiples.

Obverse

The obverse side of the Royal Australian Mint 1/20 oz Gold Coins features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown in right-profile relief in the portraits featured on Australian coins. This series uses two different designs based on the date mark, with 1999-2019 coins featuring the Ian Rank-Broadley design of the Queen. From 2020 onward, the Royal Australian Mint uses the Jody Clark bust of the Queen on the obverse of its Lunar New Year coins.

Reverse

On the reverse face of Royal Australian Mint 1/20 oz Gold Coins, you will find varying images of the lunar animals. The Chinese lunar calendar features a 12-year cycle with different animals assigned to each date. Those animals feature on the coins only during the year of issue that matches their appearance in the Zodiac. When an animals year comes around again in the Zodiac, the Royal Australian Mint offers a fresh depiction of the animal to separate that release from previous issues.

History

The Royal Australian Mint is one of two operating mints in Australia. While the Perth Mint of Western Australia is the nations oldest operating mint, the Royal Australian Mint is the official sovereign mint and is based in the capital of Canberra.
