{{/presale}}The United States Mint issues the Proof American Eagle annually and it features one of the most beautiful designs ever used on an American coin. Created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this design was originally the face of the $20 Gold Double Eagle from 1907 to 1933. Now, Provident Metals offers you the chance to purchase the Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
The Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins in this product listing come with a PR69 certification from the PCGS. Coins with this certification exhibit full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines found only outside the primary focal points of the coin. Included with each coin is a DCAM, or deep-cameo, label. This means the coins feature strong, frosted elements and deeply-mirrored, clear fields.
Obverse
The obverse of the Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin includes the front-facing portrait of Liberty. She walks away from the capital city of Washington D.C. with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
Reverse
On the reverse, Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins bear the design of a family of American bald eagles. This design was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek and features only on American Eagle gold coins.
History
Proof American Eagle Gold coins debuted in 1986 from the United States Mint with a 1 oz coin available. In 1987, the 1/2 oz gold coin was released. This was followed by the release of these 1/4 oz coins and the 1/10 oz coin in 1988.
