{{/presale}}Available annually since 1997, the Proof American Eagle Platinum Coin was the third version of the American Eagle Series introduced by the United States Mint. The coins debuted in 1997 with four weights available, with three fractional-ounce coins available only through 2008. The US Mint uses new design programs to feature different images each year on the reverse. Today, you have the opportunity to get Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Platinum Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Platinum Coin comes with a display box from the United States Mint and a Certificate of Authenticity. The coins in this product listing are available to you from random years of issue. We can guarantee that each coin is available with its original US Mint packaging and the COA.
However, this is a random year listing. As such, we select each coin at random after your payment has been processed. We are not able to accommodate requests for a particular date mark and design through this listing. If you buy multiple coins, please note you could get several coins with the same date mark and design.
Obverse
For the obverse face, the Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Platinum Coin comes with the same design each year. Here, you will find John Mercantis depiction of the Statue of Libertys face as she gazes toward the viewer. Her iconic crown pierces toward the edges of the coins design field with Liberty, In God We Trust, and E Pluribus Unum inscribed on this face of the coin. You will also find the date mark on this face of the coin.
Reverse
In the reverse design element, Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins feature varying designs of the American bald eagle or other national emblems. Most of the coins in the Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Platinum coin release have images of the American bald eagle. From 1998 to 2002, the US Mint issued the Vistas of Liberty Series with images of the bald eagle soaring over different regions of the country.
History
Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Platinum Coins were only available from 1997 to 2008. The US Mint suspended the fractional-ounce coins in 2009, with only the 1 oz platinum coin continuing to be released each year.
