When the United States Mint introduced the American Eagle Platinum Series in 1997, the BU and Proof coins were both available with fractional-ounce coins of 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz platinum. From 1997 to 2008, the US Mint issued American Eagle Platinum Coins in BU and Proof with four weights. In 2009, all four BU coins were suspended and the fractional-ounce Proof coins were suspended. The 1 oz proof carried on over the years with the BU coin returning in 1 oz platinum in 2016.

Obverse

On the obverse of Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Platinum Coins, you will find the image of the Statue of Liberty. This design visual shows Liberty in front-facing relief with inscriptions of LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the date mark.

Reverse

The reverse side of Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins comes with a depiction of the American bald eagle or other symbols of the United States of America. Inscriptions on this side will include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, .9995 PLATINUM 1/2 OZ, $50, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.

History

Fractional-ounce American Eagle Platinum Coins were only available in BU and Proof from 1997 to 2008, with new reverse designs each year.

These Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Platinum Coins are available to you in near-perfect condition. PR69 coins have a full, original mint luster and a maximum of two flaws. Acceptable flaws at this level include minuscule contact marks or hairlines outside the primary fields. Please bear in mind that random dates, label colors, label designs, and coin designs are possible.

How Does Free Shipping Work?

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.

When will my order ship?

Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.

Can I choose the method of shipping?

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.

Will I need to sign for my package?

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.

What about International Orders?

Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
