{{/presale}}The Indian Half Eagle was the final coin design issued in the Half Eagle Gold Series from the United States Mint. Designed in 1908 by Bela Lyon Pratt, the coin was the first in American history to feature an incuse-struck design. Today, you have the opportunity to buy Pre-33 $5 Indian Half Eagle Gold coins online at Provident Metals with a certification.
Highlights:
Pre-33 $5 Indian Half Eagle Gold Coins, along with the Pre-33 $2.50 Indian Quarter Eagle Gold Coins, were the only issues from the United States Mint to feature an incuse design strike. Incuse designs have elements struck into the surface of the coin rather than engraved onto its surface in 3D relief.
Obverse
On the obverse side of Pre-33 $5 Indian Half Eagle Gold Coins is a left-profile bust of a Native American figure. Wearing a full, feathered headdress, the figure is surrounded by 13 stars with Liberty and a date mark inscribed on this side.
Reverse
The reverse face of Pre-33 $5 Indian Half Eagle Gold Coins includes a design of the American bald eagle at rest. The eagle is shown on a sheaf of arrows that is wrapped in an olive branch. The eagles wings are at its sides and inscriptions include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and In God We Trust. Five Dollars is inscribed at the bottom rocker of the coin.
History
The Pre-33 $5 Indian Half Eagle Gold Coin was struck by the United States Mint from 1908 to the start of World War I. Many gold coin programs around the world were suspended during the Great War, with the Half Eagle not resuming until 1929 for just one year.
