{{/presale}}The most popular American coin design of the 20th century came from Irish-American artist and sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. He was approached directly by President Theodore Roosevelt to help lead a movement to redesign American currency designs to match the nations growing international profile. His greatest work appeared on the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin. Right now, you can get Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins with certification online at Provident Metals.

Obverse
On the obverse of the Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin is a depiction of Lady Liberty. Captured in front-facing relief, she walks toward the viewer with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. There are rays of sunshine in the background behind her figure. The US Capitol Building is visible at her feet and there is a ring of 46 or 48 stars around her figure.
Reverse
The reverse field of Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins includes the image of an American bald eagle in flight. The eagle is gliding over the sun as it rises to greet a new day. Its rays reach out to the edges of the coin design. The inscription sets on this side include either United States of America and Twenty Dollars at the top, or United States of America, Twenty Dollars, and In God We Trust.
History
Saint-Gaudens design for the Double Eagle Gold Coin included 46 stars around Liberty on the obverse of coins dated 1907 to 1911. The addition of Arizona and New Mexico to the Union in 1912 required the addition of two more stars around her figure to bring the total to 48. The reverse face of the coin did not have the national motto In God We Trust on 1907 date marks. Starting in 1908, In God We Trust was added to the top of the sun.
