Please keep in mind that specific years and design variations are not guaranteed, and if you order more than one coin, they may or may not match.

Obverse

The obverse side of the Liberty Eagle Gold Coin features a portrait of Lady Liberty, designed by Christian Gobrecht in 1838. She is shown in left-profile, wearing a coronet crown inscribed with the word LIBERTY, with a ring of 13 stars around her head. Inscriptions read LIBERTY and the date mark.

Reverse

On the reverse of the Pre-33 $10 Liberty Eagle Gold Coin, youll find the heraldic eagle, a symbol of the nations strength and unity. The eagle is depicted holding a shield on its chest, with arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. Type I coins, issued before 1866, do not include the national motto, while Type II coins, issued from late 1866 onward, feature the motto on a banner. In addition to the national motto on select coins, other inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TEN D.

History

The Liberty Gold Eagle was produced by the US Mint for nearly 70 years, with the only significant design change occurring in 1866 when the national motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” was added to the reverse. This design change resulted in two distinct types of coins.
