{{/presale}}The United States dollar gold coin was released by the United States Mint between 1849 and 1889, with the obverse design element going through a total of three designs to transform the appearance of Liberty. The reverse went through two designs, with the second design used from 1854 onward in the series. The term Type 1 refers to the original Liberty design used for the first five years of issue. Right now, you can purchase certified Pre-333 $1 Liberty Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of the Pre-33 $1 Liberty Gold Coins available in this product listing, you will receive a coin with a Mint State 64 certification from the PCGS or NGC. Coins in MS64 condition exhibit average mint luster and have several small contact marks and one or two moderate or heavy marks. The overall eye appeal is considered quite attractive.
Please remember this listing carries with it the possibility of receiving random date marks. We are not able to guarantee a specific date mark for your coin. If you buy more than one, you could get several coins that all have the same date marks.
Obverse
On the obverse side of the Pre-33 $1 Liberty Gold Coin Type 1 is a left-profile bust of Liberty. Very similar to the Liberty Coronet design from the US Eagle denominations, this bust of Liberty is surrounded by 13 stars and features a coronet crown on her head. It was designed by James B. Longacre.
Reverse
The reverse face of Pre-33 $1 Liberty Gold Coins in the Type 1 release has the denomination and a wreath marked on this side. The coins show only the denomination and date mark in the center with a wreath surrounding and the nation of issue marked.
History
The Type 1 design was used on the Gold Dollar from 1849 to 1854 before being replaced by a new design from James B. Longacre.
