{{/presale}}The United States dollar gold coin was produced by the United States Mint from 1849 to 1889. Eventually removed from circulation as a result of hoarding and underuse, the coin went through three obverse designs and two reverse designs through 40 years. The first of these combinations was known as the Type 1 design and was available from 1849 to 1854. Provident Metals currently offers the Pre-33 $1 Liberty Gold Coins Type 1 to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a Pre-33 $1 Liberty Gold Coin Type 1 in this Provident Metals listing, the gold coin you receive comes with a protective plastic flip and is available to you in Almost Uncirculated condition. Coins in this condition have only slight wear and tear on the very highest points, but offer impressive visual brilliance for all inscriptions and design elements. The coins also have at least half of the original mint luster present.
Provident Metals selects your coins in this listing at the moment your payment is processed. We cannot guarantee the specific date mark you receive. If you buy multiples, please note you could get matching dates.
Obverse
The obverse side of the Pre-33 $1 Liberty Gold Coins in this listing features the Type 1 design from James B. Longacre. Liberty is shown in left-profile relief with the coronet crown reading Liberty on her head and a ring of 13 stars around the portrait.
Reverse
On the reverse face of Pre-33 $1 Liberty Gold Coins Type 1, you will find the coin denomination 1 Dollar along with the date mark. Designed by Peter Filatreu Cross, this image includes a thin wreath around this element with United States of America inscribed along the top rocker of the design field.
History
The Pre-33 $1 Liberty Gold Coin would be redesigned by James B. Longacre in 1854 with new obverse and reverse designs. He would again redesign the obverse in 1856 with what would become the longest-running design in the series, available until its 1889 cancellation.
