{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The reintroduction of two well-known silver dollar designs in 2021 drew strong interest from collectors across the country. In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the last Morgan Dollar and the debut of the original Peace Dollar, the United States Mint revived both classic designs. Starting in 2023, these silver dollars have been released annually as modern collectibles. Today, Peace Dollar Silver Coins are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
All Peace Dollar Silver Coins offered here are housed in a presentation box and include a Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint. Coins are shipped with a random year of issue, and requests for specific dates cannot be accommodated. Selection takes place after payment is finalized, and all coins are chosen based on current availability.
Obverse
The obverse design of the Peace Dollar Coin was created by sculptor Anthony de Francisci. It features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a radiant crown. The rays extending from the crown symbolize optimism and progress. De Francisci used his wife, Teresa, as the model, resulting in a design that feels more natural and contemporary than earlier Liberty images. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRVST, and the year of issue.
Reverse
On the reverse, the Peace Dollar Silver Coindisplays a bald eagle resting on a rock while holding an olive branch. This peaceful imagery was meant to reflect the nations hope following World War I. The relaxed pose marked a shift away from earlier silver dollar designs that portrayed the eagle in a more forceful stance. Inscriptions read UNTIED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and PEACE.
History
Production of the original Peace Dollar series stopped from 1929 through 1933. This pause occurred during the Great Depression, when demand for silver coinage declined significantly. With fewer everyday transactions requiring silver dollars and sufficient supplies already held by the Treasury, coin production was no longer a priority. As a result, this period became the longest gap in the Peace Dollars original run.
