{{/presale}}The Mexican Libertad Gold Coins are based on one of the most popular circulating gold pesos of all-time. The gold Centenario was struck by the Mexican Mint starting in 1921 with a 50 Peso face value to mark the 100th anniversary of the nations independence from Spain. Provident Metals happily offers Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coins from random years.
Highlights:
When you purchase a Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coin through this product listing, you will receive a specimen inside of a protective plastic flip. These coins are available to you from random years of issue. Provident Metals will select your coins at random once your payment has been processed. We cannot guarantee you a specific date mark or hand-pick varying different date marks if you purchase more than one gold coin in this listing. Please note that the age of the coins available in this listing could result in some specimens having slight marks or toning. The coins remain in good condition overall.
Obverse
The obverse field of Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coins includes the modern coat of arms of Mexico in the center. This symbol has the Mexican gold eagle on a cactus as it battles to control a serpent. The 1 oz gold coin in this series also features 10 historic versions of the same image on around the edge of the design field.
Reverse
On the reverse side, Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coins all feature the image of Winged Victory. Depending on the date mark you receive, you will find one of two different effigies of Winged Victory. Early coins in this collection through the 2000 date mark have the original image of Winged Victory used on the former gold Centenario 50 Peso coin, while all modern coins issued from 2002 to the present feature the modernized image of Winged Victory atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column.
History
Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coins initially debuted in 1981 as the launch of a new gold bullion series, but were only issued in that one year to mark 60 years since the 1921 introduction of the gold Centenario. In 1991, the program resumed with 1/10 and 1/20 oz gold coins joining the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz coins issued in 1981. The coins were produced from 1991 to 1994, halted, struck in 2000, halted again in 2001, and have been available since 2002. The highest mintage available in the 1 oz range remains the 1981 coin at 596,000. The 2003 mintage had the lowest figure at just 500 coins in all.
