{{/presale}}The Los Coyotes Band of Cahuilla and Cupeno Indians is a small tribe located just outside of San Diego, California. This federally recognized tribe was founded in 1889 and recently began minting coins.
This $5 copper round features a bobcat climbing a rock on the obverse, with the inscription “United States of America 2013,” “Bobcat Tukut,” “5 Dollars,” and “Not Good For Trade.”
“Tukut” is the Cahuilla word for bobcat, a species native to the area and prominent in many Native American religions.
The reverse bears the inscription “Los Coyotes,” with an image of two coyotes, one facing out and the other howling into the sky with a curving moon in the upper left. The banner below says “Band of Indians.”
These unique coins are struck in .999 fine copper and weigh at least 1 ounce at minimum. Though these coins are not officially legal for trade, they are authorized via the tribe’s sovereign status.
The mintage for these coins is limited to 100,000 total, and is produced by the Osborne Mint.
To protect your investment, your $5 copper round will be wrapped in a protective plastic sleeve, and multiples of 20 will be shipped in a plastic tube. Make these wild bobcat coins part of your collection today through Provident Metals’ easy and secure online purchasing system today.
