{{/presale}}The Chinese Mint made a bold move with its national bullion silver and gold coins in 2016 when it shifted all of the weights from Troy ounces to Grams. The move was said to bring the series in line with the nations use of the Metric system, but whatever the reason, it made the program stand out further among its peers in the precious metals industry as the only major bullion coin series measured and marked in Grams rather than Troy ounces. Provident Metals currently has Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver Coins available in perfect condition from random years of issue.
Highlights:
When you purchase a Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver Coin through this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that has been certified as a perfect specimen by the PCGS. Coins in Mint State 70 condition showcase full, original mint luster and feature no detracting flaws of any kind on the design elements or surface areas.
Obverse
The obverse side of the Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver Coin features the Giant Panda species. A large bear species native to the central highlands of China, the Giant Panda is easily recognizable by its white-and-black fur. The species is so named as the Giant Panda to differentiate it from the red panda, a raccoon-like species also find in China. There is a new image of the Giant Panda on the obverse of the coin each year, so there is no telling exactly which design you will receive in this listing.
Reverse
On the reverse face of Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver Coins, you will find the same design year after year. The outer facade of a building known as the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests is depicted on this face of the coin. Inscriptions include the Chinese Mandarin symbols for Peoples Republic of China and the date mark.
History
The Chinese Panda Series first launched in 1982 as a gold bullion coin. That version of the series had 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz coins available. In 1983, the Chinese Mint introduced a 1/20 oz gold coin along with its first-ever Chinese Panda Silver Coin. However, the latter was only available at first as a proof coin with 27 grams of .900 silver content. It wasnt until 1989 that the Chinese Panda Silver coin was regularly available as a bullion coin with a standardized weight and .999 pure silver content.
