Obverse
The obverse face of the Chinese Panda 1/4 oz Gold Coin comes with a depiction of the exterior of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. Depicted on the obverse of the coins since 1982, this image comes with inscriptions of the nation of issue in Mandarin and a date mark.
Reverse
On the reverse side of Chinese Panda 1/4 oz Gold Coins is the Giant Panda species. This noted bear species is instantly recognizable with its alternating patches of black and white fur. The design of the Giant Panda changes each year, with only the 2001 and 2002 coins sharing a design element across two different releases.
History
Chinese Panda 1/4 oz Gold Coins were available from 1982 to 2000 with a face value of 25 Yuan, while the 2001 to 2015 coins had a face value of 100 Yuan. In 2016, the coin was switched to Grams along with all other Chinese Panda bullion coins and became the 8 Gram Gold Coin.
