{{/presale}}The Devil’s Brigade was a joint World War II American-Canadian commando unit, marking the first and only time the two nations were seamlessly joined in training, equipment, and uniform. Appropriately named the 1st Special Service Force, the Devil’s Brigade was originally intended to be a parachute unit whose mission was to slip behind enemy lines and carry out psychological warfare. The unit would surreptitiously tuck printed cards onto the bodies of enemy soldiers with the warning, “Das dicke Ende kommt noch!” or “The worst is yet to come!” printed in ominous red ink. Although it was only operational from 1942 to 1944, this elite combat unit demonstrated the power of united national forces against a common foe, and became the forerunner to distinguished Canadian and U.S. Special Forces units including Canada’s Joint-Task-Force 2, the United States’ Navy Seals, Delta Force, and Green Berets.
