{{/presale}}Among the most popular coins for sale in Australia and around the globe, the Australian Koala Silver Coin is one of five major silver bullion coin offerings from the Perth Mint each year. The Australian Koala followed in the footsteps of the Australian Kookaburra with new design images on the reverse each year, a trend later followed by other Australian silver coins. Today, you have the chance to purchase Australian Koala 1 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
The Perth Mint introduced its first major silver bullion coin in 1990. The Australian Kookaburra set the stage for future releases from the mint by using new images of the kookaburra bird species on the reverse. When the Australian Koala Silver Coins debuted in 2007, the Perth Mint used the same approach by offering new images of the koala species on the reverse field.
Obverse
On the obverse of the Australian Koala 1 oz Silver Coin is a depiction of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is shown in right-profile relief regardless of date mark, but the visuals and elements vary between two options. Coins issued from 2007 to 2019 have the fifth-generation bust of Elizabeth IIs head with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. Coins available from 2020 onward have the sixth-generation image of Elizabeth II with the George IV State Diadem Crown and includes the Queens neckline and shoulders in the portrait for the first time since 1966. Inscriptions include Australia, Elizabeth II, and 1 Dollar.
Reverse
The reverse field of the Australian Koala Silver Coin comes with various images of the koala. The cuddly koala is often mislabeled as the koala bear in colloquial conversation when in reality, it is a marsupial species. The koala is endemic to the Australian continent and is featured in a new design on the reverse each year. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read Australian Koala, 1 oz Silver, and the date mark and purity.
History
The Perth Mint is the oldest operating mint in Australia and was founded in 1899 as the third and final Royal Mint branch facility. Today, it is owned by the state government of Western Australia, and its coinage is considered legal tender in Australia.
History
These Australian Koala 1 oz Silver Coins have Mint State 69 certifications. An MS69 coin has full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws include minuscule contact marks or hairlines only that are located outside the primary focal points of the coin.
