{{/presale}}The kangaroo is considered an important national symbol in Australia. The largest living marsupial in the world, the kangaroo is found only on the Australian continent and is the inspiration for a long-running gold bullion coin series from the Perth Mint. Provident Metals now offers Australian Kangaroo 1/10 oz Gold Coins from random years to purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase Australian Kangaroo 1/10 oz Gold Coins through this Provident Metals listing, the coins you receive come with a protective plastic flip and are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. This is a random year listing and we select all coins once your payment has been processed.
Obverse
The obverse side of Australian Kangaroo 1/10 oz Gold Coins features a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty has featured in three different portraits on the Australian Kangaroo Gold Coin Series. Coins with date marks of 1990 to 1997 have Raphael Makloufs fourth-generation design. Coins dated 1998 to 2018 have the Ian Rank-Broadley fifth-generation effigy. Coins dated 2019 to the present offer the sixth-generation design from Jody Clark.
Reverse
On the reverse of Australian Kangaroo Gold Coins is an image of the kangaroo species. The Perth Mint changes the image of the kangaroo each year just as it does on the Kookaburra, Koala, and Kangaroo silver coins. Three of the four subspecies of the kangaroo have featured on the reverse design fields in this series, with the Western grey and Red kangaroo species featured with the greatest frequency.
History
The Australian Kangaroo Gold Series is the oldest collection from the Perth Mint. It was originally offered from 1987 to 1989 as the Australian Nugget Gold Coin, but transitioned to the Australian Kangaroo in 1990 as the Australian Kookaburra Silver Coin was introduced.
