{{/presale}}The American Eagle Platinum Coins have long been available in a 1 oz platinum coin. The bullion series had this weight available from 1997 to 2008, in 2014, and again as of 2016. The proof version of the coin has been available every year since 1997. With lower mintages than other American Eagles, the 1 oz platinum coins are rare with a certification. Today, you have the opportunity to get American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins online at Provident Metals in perfect condition.
Highlights:
American Eagle Platinum Coins are available annually from the United States Mint as of 2016 in both the bullion and proof versions, but that has not always been the case. From 1997 to 2008, the coins were available in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz platinum in both the bullion and proof options. In 2009, all fractional-ounce coins were canceled in the bullion and proof collections. The 1 oz coin was halted from 2009 to 2013, while the 1 oz proof coin was the only one to continue through the suspension.
Obverse
On the obverse face of the American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin is a depiction of the Statue of Libertys stoic gaze. She holds her torch up in her right hand out of view of the design element, with her spiked crown reaching to the edges of the design field.
Reverse
The reverse side of American Eagle Platinum Coins is an image of the American bald eagle in flight. The eagle is shown gliding effortlessly through the air with its wings spread out wide as the sun emerges on the horizon in the distance.
History
American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins have the highest mintage records in this series. The 1998 1 oz coin sold a total of 133,002, the record for the American Eagle Platinum Series in any version or weight. The 1999 coin and 1997 coin have the third- and fourth-highest mintages in series history, respectfully.
