{{/presale}}The American Eagle Platinum Coin from the United States Mint debuted in 1997. The bullion series initially featured four coins in total, with a 1 oz platinum coin and three fractional-ounce coins. Among those was the 1/4 oz Platinum coin issued from 1997 to 2008. Right now, you can buy American Eagle 1/4 oz Platinum Coins in near-perfect condition online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of an American Eagle 1/4 oz Platinum Coin in this Provident Metals listing, you receive a coin with a near-perfect certification. Coins in Mint State 69 condition exhibit full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detracting flaws present. Examples of acceptable flaws at this level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines found outside of the primary focal points of the con.
Obverse
On the obverse side of the American Eagle 1/4 oz Platinum Coin is an image of the face of the Statue of Liberty. This bust of Liberty is a front-facing image that shows her stoic glance as she gazes off into the distance. The spikes of her crown crest the design field, as does her right hand holding up the torch to light the way across the Atlantic Ocean.
Reverse
The reverse side of the American Eagle Platinum Coin comes with a design of the American bald eagle. Created for the series by Thomas D. Rogers, this design showcases an American bald eagle as it glides in flight over the continent. The sun rises in the distant background as the rays of the sun reach out toward the edges of the design field.
History
American Eagle Platinum Coins debuted in 1997 at the United States Mint. The series had 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz platinum coins from 1997 to 2008. In 2008, with demand for the coins waning, the United States Mint suspended the program starting in 2009. When it resumed in 2014, only the 1 oz platinum coin was available.
