Only a special few American Eagle Gold Coins are given an MS69 grade from either PCGS or NGC, the two most respected coin grading services. Today, you can purchase American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins of various years with an MS69 grade from either PCGS or NGC at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin in this listing will have an MS69 grade from either PCGS or NGC. These near-perfect coins can have no more than two minor detracting flaws that are limited to just minuscule contact marks or hairlines. Bear in mind, you could receive coins from any year. This means that if you order multiple coins they may or may not be from the same year or have the same label. It is just the luck of the draw.
Obverse
The obverse side of American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins feature Augustus Saint-Gaudens depiction of Lady Liberty. In the image, you see a full-length depiction of Liberty with her long, flowing hair and robe. She appears to be walking off of the coin holding an olive branch in her left hand and a flaming torch in her right hand. Around Lady Libertys likeness is 50 stars and the word LIBERTY.
Reverse
On the reverse of the American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin, you can see Miley Busieks famous image of a female eagle in her nest guarding her young hatchlings under her wings while a male eagle flies toward the nest with a branch clutched tightly in his talons. Also on the obverse, you can see the coins weight, purity, and monetary value.
History
These coins are 91.67% gold. The remaining metals in the coins are 3% silver and 5.33% copper. Throughout American Eagle Gold Coin history, the 1/2 coins have had the lowest mintage figures, which makes them a little rarer than the other sizes in the series.
