{{/presale}}Investing in silver offers many forms and options. One of the easiest and most affordable are 90% silver coins from previous circulation in the United States. American dimes, quarters, half dollars, and silver dollars produced through 1964 had 90% silver content with 10% copper for durability in circulation. Right now, you can purchase 90% Silver Barber Halves in Good+ condition from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of 90% Silver Barber Halves in this product listing, you receive a protective plastic bag for shipping that includes two coins in total. This equates to a full face value of $1 (USD) for your purchase. These coins were produced with available date marks of 1892 to 1916. We cannot hand-pick specific date marks, guarantee that you will receive two matching date marks, or select separate date marks. All coins are chosen at our discretion when your payment has been processed.
Obverse
On the obverse face of 90% Silver Barber Halves is a depiction of Lady Liberty. This bust of Liberty was designed by Charles E. Barber in 1892 and used on this half dollar throughout its production history. It captures Liberty in right-profile relief with a loose wreath crown and her hair up in a bun.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 90% Silver Barber Halves includes an image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. The eagle is the oldest coin design from the United States Mint still in use today. It has been modified several times throughout American history, but focuses on a few core elements with each iteration. The eagle is always featured in front-facing relief with arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. The national shield is often featured on the birds chest with a cluster of 13 stars above its head.
History
The US dimes, quarters, and half dollars produced from 1892 to 1916 are known as the Barber Coinage. The 6th US Mint Chief Engraver, Charles E. Barber, created each of the designs in 1892. His Liberty bust was used across all three denominations, while the heraldic eagle was used only on the quarter and half dollar. The dime featured the denomination in text with a wreath around it.
