Obverse
On the obverse side of 90% Silver Standing Liberty Quarters is a depiction of Liberty standing in the gap of a wall in defense of the nation. She stands with a shield in her left hand looking to heraldic east as a sign of American cautiousness regarding World War I in Europe. She held an olive branch in her other hand symbolizing the nations desire for peace.
Reverse
The reverse face of 90% Silver Standing Liberty Quarters includes a depiction of the American bald eagle as it soars in flight through the design field. The design element includes 13 stars, the nation of issue, and the face value of the coin.
History
The obverse design element of the Standing Liberty Quarters featured three design versions. The original design from MacNeil depicted Liberty with a bare chest. MacNeil adapted the design to include a chainmail plate over Libertys chest. The American eagle on the reverse remained the same, but the arrangement of the 13 stars changed. Originally, the stars were split six on one side and seven on the other, but the series ended with five stars on either side and three more below the eagle.
