{{/presale}}The US half dollar coin is one of the few original denominations from the US Mint that is still available today with little change to the product in question. For example, half-dollar silver coins were first issued in 1794 and have never been out of circulation since, even though the modern half-dollar uses a cupro-nickel alloy instead of 90% silver. Provident Metals now offers you the chance to purchase $500 Face Value 90% Silver Half Dollars online.
Highlights:
When you purchase $500 Face Value 90% Silver Half Dollars through this Provident Metals listing, you receive a plastic bag containing 90% Silver US Half Dollar coins. Each coin has .365 Troy oz of silver content. These coins have 90% silver and 10% copper in the metallic content. Designs in this denomination vary greatly based on the date of issue.
Obverse
The obverse design of 90% Silver Half Dollar Coins depends on the date mark. From 1794 to 1947, Lady Liberty featured on the obverse of American half-dollar coins in various designs that ranged from portraits of Libertys head to full-figure images of Liberty.
Reverse
On the reverse of 90% Silver Half Dollar Coins, you will find varying images of the American eagle. In most cases, the coins have a version of the heraldic eagle of the United States. 20th-century versions of the coin have varying images of the American eagle, including modified versions of the Great Seal of the United States and the Presidential Seal of the United States.
History
From 1794 to 1839, the United States Mint featured side-profile portraits of Lady Liberty based in Roman and Greek portraits of the female personification. The longest-running design in the silver half-dollar series was Seated Liberty from Christian Gobrecht. It was used on the coin from 1839 to 1891, with the 52-year reign of this design far surpassing the Walking Liberty designs run from 1916 to 1947, a 31-year run.
