History
Platinum is one of the worlds rarer precious metals. The primary metal of the Platinum Group Metals, it was named platino by Spanish conquistadors who came across it in the cultural artifacts and works of indigenous tribes in South America. The term platino translates to English as little silver, a nod to platinums similar coloration to silver.
