{{/presale}}Platinum is a popular precious metal that is available to investors in a variety of formats. One of the more intriguing platinum options is the CombiBar, which is produced by the world-renowned Valcambi in Switzerland. Through a patented process, Valcambi has assembled a single 50-gram bar that can be broken into fifty 1-gram pieces. These bars can serve as a solid investment product and could also be useful in the event of a financial crisis. Right now, you can get 50 Gram Valcambi Platinum CombiBars online from Provident Metals.
Bar Highlights:
Each 50 Gram Valcambi CombiBar in this Provident Metals online listing will arrive to you in sealed plastic with an attached assay card. The front side of these cards features the brand name and logo, while the reverse contains the assayer information. This includes the assayer signature, confirming the purity and weight of these bars is accurate. If you choose to divide these bars into individual pieces, you will need to remove them from their sealed plastic to do so. When handling outside of their packaging, you may wish to wear cotton gloves.
Obverse
On the obverse of Valcambi Platinum CombiBars, you will see the brand logo and bar hallmarks. The logo features a square frame with a cutout center containing four triangles. This logo represents a stylized 400 oz LBMA Good Deliver bar cut in a diagonal fashion. The hallmarks appear below this and read 1 G PLATINUM 999,5. Youll find this information on all 50 one-gram pieces.
Reverse
The reverse of 50 Gram Platinum CombiBars features the bars unique serial number. This is shown on the lower left portion of the bar. Also depicted is the Valcambi logo again as well as hallmarks reading 50 G, PLATINUM, 999,5. Unlike the obverse, this information is only shown once across the entire surface of the bar.
History
Platinum is a precious metal whose use dates back to at least ancient Egypt. However, these early uses of platinum were likely accidental, as they appeared simply as traces in gold jewelry. During the Age of Discovery, Spanish conquistadors discovered platinum but dismissed it as an inferior metal. This was mainly because it was a challenge to melt and shape. In 1751, platinums status was elevated considerably when it was declared a precious metal by a Swedish scientist named Theophil Scheffer.
