{{/presale}}The gold coins of the British Sovereign are linked to one of the oldest gold coins from Britain, the gold English Sovereign. The modern British Sovereign was introduced in 1817 as a new take on the historic English Sovereign and it remains in production to this day at the Royal Mint. The largest denomination of the British Sovereign is known as the Quintuple Sovereign. Provident Metals now has 5 Pound British Sovereign Gold Coins available to you for purchase online in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 5 Pound British Sovereign Gold Coin in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that is packaged in a protective plastic slab by the NGC or PCGS. These coins have Mint State 69 grades, indicating a near-perfect specimen. Each one showcases full, original mint luster with the potential for no more than two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines located outside the primary focal points of the coin.
Provident Metals offers these coins to you at random. We select each coin after your payment has cleared and cannot guarantee the date, specific design, or the labels of the coin you receive. The only guarantee we make is that youll receive an MS69 coin. If you buy several, you may receive coins with dates and designs.
Obverse
British monarchs feature on the obverse of 5 Pound British Sovereign Gold Coins. The portraits on this face of the coin are right-profile reliefs of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown on these coins with designs from Arnold Machin or Raphael Maklouf, the most common designs on the 5 Pound Sovereign during her reign. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II and DEI GRA REG F.D.
Reverse

History
5 Pound British Sovereign Gold Coins were initially offered as pattern coins in 1820 during the reign of King George III. The coins have been irregularly issued by the Royal Mint since this time, with only two early issues during Queen Elizabeth IIs reign and irregularly again since 1980.
