{{/presale}}Alyx the Fairy was the third silver round issued in the Silver Fairy Series. The bold collection of silver rounds produced in honor of the Silverbug community includes the beloved Ariana the Silver Fairy, as well as Ariel the Tree Fairy and the mischievous Alyx figure. Today, you have the opportunity to get 5 oz Silver Proof Silverbug Alyx the Fair Rounds online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Silver Fairy Series of silver rounds was issued first by the North American Mint, and later by the Osborne Mint as new designs were released and additional versions. The original release of most designs contained 1 oz silver options and 5 oz silver options, both available in proof and antique versions. As new options came out, a reverse proof option was introduced in 5 oz silver.
Obverse
The obverse face of 5 oz Silver Proof Silverbug Alyx the Fairy Rounds includes a depiction of Alyx from Steve Ferris. The design is meant to capture the nature of silver being held back by the market and tied down by speculators. Alyx is shown kneeling down with her wings behind her, but her hands tied together with rope in front of her figure. There is also a chain around the border field to drive home the idea that silver is being held back.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 5 oz Silver Proof Silverbug Alyx the Fairy Round is an image of the Scarab beetle. The beetle design features on all versions of Alyx releases and all other designs in the Silver Fairy Series. The beetle has the period symbol for silver, Ag, inscribed above it with swooping wings and ornate limbs. Inscriptions on this face of the round include Five Troy Ounce along the top rocker, 999 Fine Silver just below the beetle, and For the Silverbug Community along the bottom rocker.
History
Alyx represents the third release in this series behind Ariana the Silver Fairy, as well as Ariel the Tree Fairy. These 5 oz rounds are part of the primary option with proof visuals boasting frosted design elements and mirrored background fields.
