Johnson Matthey, a prominent name in the world of precious metals, has a rich history dating back to its establishment in London in 1817. Over time, it expanded its presence to become an international brand with operations in both Canada and the United States. Although Johnson Matthey concluded its operations in 2016, you can still acquire their bars today. Currently, you have the opportunity to purchase 5 oz Silver Cast Bars online from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Each bar is thoughtfully packaged in protective plastic for secure delivery!
  • Adorned with the distinctive Johnson Matthey Diamond logo!
  • These bars are cast using 5 troy ounces of .999 pure silver.
  • The obverse side features unique identifying hallmarks.
  • The reverse side maintains a blank canvas.

Each 5 oz Silver Cast Bar offered here is meticulously packaged in protective plastic, ensuring that it reaches you securely. These cast silver bars feature design elements exclusively on the obverse side, with markings stamped incuse into the bar’s surface. It’s important to note that these bars are considered Secondary Market, meaning they were not sourced directly from the original manufacturer. As a result, they may display some signs of toning, which is a natural outcome of oxidation and does not affect the value of the silver in the bar.

Design

On the obverse side of the Johnson Matthey Cast Bar, you’ll find straightforward designs stamped incuse into the bar. These designs are vertically oriented, featuring the Johnson Matthey diamond logo at the top, alongside the bar’s weight and purity. The reverse side of these 5 oz Silver Cast Bars is intentionally left blank, though you may notice unique striations and textures resulting from the casting process, a natural characteristic.

History

The history of Johnson Matthey can be traced back to 1817 when it was founded by George Matthey and Percival Norton Johnson as a gold assaying business in London. Their expertise in testing and valuing gold and silver coins for the Bank of England quickly earned them a reputation in the precious metals industry.
