{{/presale}}Gold bars are the preferred choice for many gold investors. Struck in various weights and forms with designs that range from the simplistic to the ornate, gold bars are perhaps the most preferred storage of wealth of any form of precious metal. Engelhard gold bars, though no longer actively produced, remain a symbol of quality and purity within the industry. Right now, you can buy 5 oz Gold Bars online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of 5 oz Gold Bars from Engelhard in this Provident Metals listing, you receive gold bars that will be individually wrapped. Each gold bar is wrapped individually with protective materials to secure it during shipping. The bars will ship to you inside of discreet cardboard boxes. All bars are selected at random to fulfill your order. This occurs after your payment clears, so we cannot guarantee a particular design in advance. When buying more than one, you may receive multiple matching bar designs or a variety of different ones.
Obverse
In the obverse design of 5 oz Gold Bars, you will find the inscriptions of the company name, the weight, and the purity of the gold bar. The inscriptions are arranged for reading along the longer, horizontal face of the bar. The Engelhard logo has a rectangle with the name Engelhard stamped inside. The weight and purity are noted as 5.000 and 999.9, with both stamped above the logo. The inscriptions are all stamped incuse, meaning the text and images are struck into the surface of the bar and not engraved on top of it with 3D relief.
Reverse
For the reverse field of the 5 oz Gold Bar, Engelhard has purposely left the field blank. Cast gold bars are, in part, more affordable because less time and effort goes into the production process. One result of this is the lack of inscriptions on the reverse field of the bar. While it is blank in terms of inscriptions, you are likely to notice natural lines, striations, and textures as a result of the manner in which the gold cooled and settled in the mold during the production process.
History
Engelhard was formed in 1903 by Charles W. Engelhard Sr. His original company was formed through the acquisition of several other companies, resulting in his formation of the American Platinum Works. Engelhard was originally a platinum smelting and refining business that eventually expanded to offer gold and silver bullion products alongside platinum. Engelhard is best remembered for the development of the catalytic converter, a piece within internal combustion engines that uses platinum to clean the exhaust fumes.
