{{/presale}}The American Virtues series is a remarkable set of bullion collectibles released to commemorate the signature national traits that have helped America to surmount times of adversity across the breadth of the republic’s history. In the case of the virtue of Independence, it brings together Thomas Jefferson — polymathic author of the original draft of the Declaration of Independence — and Lady Liberty, a symbolic representation of America’s national identity and long-term commitments to freedom. Provident Metals is delighted to be able to offer rounds from the proof-quality limited release celebrating Independence, with ultra high-relief artwork rising from brilliant mirrored fields. The 2021 Proof American Virtues Independence 3 oz Silver Round is now available for online purchase.
Highlights:
The 2021 Proof American Virtues Independence Silver Round ships in a protective plastic slab designed to preserve its gorgeous proof finish. The team at Provident Metals fully insures your shipment against even the most remote possibility of loss or damage en route.
Obverse
Thomas Jefferson appears in effigy on the round’s obverse side, along with his name and the year of issue. He’s accompanied by the inscriptions “AMERICAN VIRTUES” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and his iconic quote “Never Trouble Another for What You Can Do For Yourself” appears at the rim.
Reverse
On the round’s reverse side, Lady Liberty lights the road of Independence with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. A bald eagle flies by her side to represent freedom, and the pre-9/11 New York skyline appears in the background.
History
The Declaration of Independence is famed as the document that, after years of tension and protest, finally set the American Revolution in motion. Its original draft was produced by the man who was accounted the most brilliant mind among the Founding Fathers, the philosopher and architect, lawyer, and diplomat Thomas Jefferson, who would later go on to be America’s third President. The ideas he embedded in that Declaration would go on the shape the character of America for centuries to come, helping to carry the country through moments of adversity such as the 9/11 attacks, whose somber Twentieth Anniversary occasioned the release of the American Virtues series of collectibles.
