History
Wonder Woman debuted as Diana, princess of the Amazons from the hidden island of Themyscira, originally known as Paradise Island. When American pilot Steve Trevor crashed there, Diana earned the chance to return him home and take part in the fight for justice beyond her island. With her indestructible bracelets, the Lasso of Truth, and her costume inspired by the colors of the American flag, she quickly became a standout hero. Her popularity grew so quickly that by the summer of 1942 she had her own solo comic series and was established as one of DCs leading characters.
