{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Proof American Gold Eagle stands as a long-running series from the United States Mint with strong recognition among collectors. Since its introduction in 1986, the series has been produced in 22-karat gold and features carefully struck proof finishes. Each coin blends historic and modern American imagery, offering lasting appeal. Today, 2026-W Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins are available for purchase online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2026-W Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin is secured in a capsule and comes with a presentation box, themed shipper, and Certificate of Authenticity. The coin is struck in 22-karat gold composed of 91.67% gold, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver. A dual date of 17762026 and a Liberty Bell 250 privy mark commemorate the nations upcoming 250th anniversary.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2026-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coin features the well-known Lady Liberty design created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Originally crafted for early 20th-century US coinage, the design shows Liberty walking toward the viewer. She carries a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, symbolizing guidance and peace. Sun rays extend behind her, with stars encircling the edge and the Capitol Building visible below. The inscriptions here include LIBERTY, 1776-2026, the W mint mark, and the ASG signature mark.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2026-W Proof Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin presents a modern interpretation of the American bald eagle. Designed by Jennie Norris and introduced in 2020, the image focuses on the eagles head in profile. Fine details highlight the birds strength while maintaining a simple and contemporary style. Inscriptions here include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 25 DOLLARS, and 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.
History
Introduced in 1987, the half-ounce Proof Gold Eagle was designed to offer a balanced option within the series. With one-half troy ounce of gold, it provides a comfortable middle ground for those seeking something larger than fractional coins but smaller than the full ounce. The proof strike enhances the overall detail through mirrored fields and frosted design elements.
