Obverse
The obverse of the 2026-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coin displays the famous Lady Liberty design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Originally created for the $20 Double Eagle, the design shows Liberty stepping forward confidently. She holds a torch to represent enlightenment and an olive branch symbolizing peace. Behind Liberty, the rising sun sends rays across the background, reflecting the nations sense of hope and forward movement. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, 1776-2026, and the W mint mark.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2026-W Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin is a modern depiction of the American bald eagle. This updated design replaced the original eagle family motif that had appeared on the series since its debut in 1986. The new design presents a close-up portrait of the eagles head, highlighting its detailed feathers and strong gaze that represent the enduring character of the United States. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 25 DOLLARS, and 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.
History
The American bald eagle has appeared on coins throughout much of the countrys history. In 1782, the bald eagle was officially chosen as the national bird and symbol of the United States. Over time, it has become closely connected with national ideals such as independence, strength, and freedom. Because the species is native to North America, the early leaders of the United States believed it represented the spirit of a new nation establishing its own identity apart from European powers.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies.
