{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The South African Gold Krugerrand is one of the worlds most well-known gold bullion coins. First issued in 1967, it remains a trusted option for investors and collectors. The series includes 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz coins. Right now, 2026 South African Krugerrand 1/2 oz Gold Coins are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2026 South African Krugerrand 1/2 oz Gold Coin offered here arrives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Single coins come in individual plastic flips, while multiples of 15 are packaged in tubes for protection. Each coin is made from a 22-karat gold alloy composed of 91.67% gold and 8.33% copper, giving it strength while preserving its gold content.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2026 South African Krugerrand Gold Coin is the image of Paul Kruger. This design dates back to South African coins from the 1890s and continues to serve as the defining portrait of the Krugerrand Series today. The inscriptions here include SUID-AFRIKA and SOUTH AFRICA.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2026 Krugerrand 1/2 oz Gold Coin displays the Springbok antelope, a national symbol of South Africa. Originally used on coinage in the 1930s and 1940s, the Springbok was reintroduced for the Krugerrands debut in 1967 and remains one of the countrys most recognizable designs. Inscriptions here include 1/2 KRUGERRAND, 2026, FYNGOUD, and 1/2 OZ FINE GOLD.
History
Paul Kruger served as President of the South African Republic (Transvaal) from 1883 to 1900, during a time of rapid change following the gold discoveries on the Witwatersrand in 1886. His leadership faced the challenge of balancing Boer interests with the arrival of foreign miners and increasing British involvement in the region. These conflicts would eventually lead to the Second Boer War in 1899.
