{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}Koalas are among Australias most well-known native animals and are closely tied to the countrys natural identity. Often associated with preservation efforts and protected habitats, the koala represents Australias diverse wildlife. In 2026, the Royal Australian Mint introduced the third design in its ongoing RAM Koala Series. Today, 2026 Royal Australian Mint Koala 1 oz Gold Coins are available online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
These 2026 Royal Australian Mint Koala 1 oz Gold Coins are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each coin is protected within an individual plastic capsule, while orders of 10 coins are packaged together in sealed plastic rolls.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2026 Royal Australian Mint Koala Gold Coin showcases a left-facing portrait of King Charles III. Designed by Dan Thorne, this effigy presents His Majesty without a crown, continuing a more modern style seen on recent Australian coinage. This portrait is one of the first to appear following the transition to King Charles III on national issues. The inscriptions here read CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, 2026, and 100 DOLLARS.
Reverse
Featured on the reverse of the 2026 RAM Koala 1 oz Gold Coin is a detailed image of a koala family positioned among the limbs of a gum tree. Although koalas are often perceived as social animals, they generally live alone. The strongest relationship exists between a mother and her joey during the early stages of development, which is reflected in this thoughtful design. Inscriptions here read KOALA, 1 OZ, and .9999 AU.
History
Female koalas independently raise their young. A joey remains inside the pouch for several months before beginning to explore the outside world. After emerging, the young koala rides on its mothers back while gradually learning to climb, forage, and adapt to a diet made up largely of eucalyptus leaves.
At roughly one year of age, the joey becomes independent and moves on to establish its own territory. Adult koalas typically avoid one another outside of mating season. When breeding occurs, males may compete by producing loud vocal calls and, on occasion, engaging in physical encounters.
