Within the colorized Lunar Horse series, the 2 oz coin represents a mid-range size. Smaller 1/2 oz and 1 oz options are also available, along with larger 5 oz and 1 kilo versions. With a total mintage limited to 10,000 coins, this release provides a defined level of availability for collectors.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 Colorized Australian Lunar Horse Silver Coin features the effigy of King Charles III. His Majesty is shown in left-profile relief without a crown. This portrait, created by Dan Thorne, is the first official depiction of King Charles III used on Australian coinage. The inscriptions here read CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, 2 OZ 9999 AG, and 2 DOLLARS.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2026 Colorized Lunar Horse 2 oz Silver Coin, the design captures two horses running freely across open land. An adult horse and a young colt are both shown with rich brown coloring. Mountains stretch across the background, and a river flows through the scene, adding natural detail to the overall design. Inscriptions here read HORSE, 2026, the Chinese symbol for the horse, and the P mint mark.
