The Royal Mint launched the Tudor Beasts Series in 2022 as the next chapter after the Queens Beasts program. This series features ten planned designs inspired by the heraldic statues found on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court. These figures were used by Tudor monarchs, especially King Henry VIII, to highlight royal authority following the Wars of the Roses. Now, 2026 British Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion 1 oz Gold Tubes are available online from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Coins arrive in a protective acrylic tube!
  • Includes 10 coins per tube!
  • 8th BU release in the Tudor Beasts Series!
  • Contains 1 troy oz of .9999 pure gold per coin in BU condition (10 troy oz total).
  • Issued a face value of 100 Pound sterling (GBP) by Britain.
  • The obverse shows the bust of King Charles III.
  • The reverse displays the Queens Lion with Jane Seymours badge.

Each 2026 British Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion 1 oz Gold Tube includes 10 coins. This product is available only as a bulk option, with each tube containing Brilliant Uncirculated coins totaling 10 troy ounces of 24-karat gold.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 British Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion Gold Coin carries the official effigy of King Charles III. Created by Martin Jennings in 2022, this left-profile portrait marks the first official depiction of the new king and notably leaves off the crown. The inscriptions include CHARLES III, DG REX FD, and 100 POUNDS.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2026 Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion 1 oz Gold Coin highlights the Queens Lion, which Henry VIII connected to Jane Seymour. This crowned lion symbol was meant to elevate Janes position as queen consort, and the design shows the lion holding her personal badge. The inscriptions read THE QUEEN’S LION, 1 OZ, FINE GOLD, 999.9, and 2026.

History

Jane Seymours short marriage to Henry VIII changed English history by producing Edward VI, Henrys only legitimate male heir who reigned from 1547 to 1553. Her death soon after childbirth brought her special recognition as the only one of Henrys wives to receive a queens funeral and to share a burial place with him at St. Georges Chapel, Windsor.
