{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The kookaburra is a well-known part of Australias natural heritage and is easily recognized as one of the countrys most familiar native birds. Its signature laughing call is closely tied to the Australian bush and has been featured in films, books, and childrens songs for decades. The bird also shares a long-standing relationship with The Perth Mint, where it has appeared on silver coin designs year after year. Today, 2026 Australian Kookaburra 10 oz Silver Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2026 Australian Kookaburra 10 oz Silver Coin offered here is struck in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are sealed inside protective capsules to help maintain their appearance over time. With an unlimited mintage in place, The Perth Mint will continue producing the 2026 10 oz Kookaburra throughout the year as long as demand remains strong.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2026 Australian Kookaburra Silver Coin is a left-facing portrait of King Charles III. Designed by Dan Thorne, this effigy shows the King without a crown and marks the first official appearance of his likeness on Australian coinage. The portrait reflects a modern transition in Australias royal coin designs. The inscriptions include CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, and 10 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2026 Kookaburra 10 oz Silver Coin features a detailed image of a kookaburra flying above a coastal landscape. Kookaburras are famous for their communal calling behavior, which takes place around sunrise and sunset as family groups vocalize together. The design captures the bird in motion while highlighting its connection to the Australian environment. The inscriptions read KOOKABURRA, 2026, 10 OZ 9999 SILVER, and the P mint mark of the Perth Mint.
History
There are two species of kookaburras found in Australia: the laughing kookaburra and the blue-winged kookaburra. The laughing kookaburra is the more common and widely recognized species, typically found in eastern parts of the country. The blue-winged kookaburra lives mainly in northern Australia and nearby regions of New Guinea and is identified by its blue wing markings and slightly different vocal call. Both species are known for their sturdy bodies, large beaks, and hunting skills.
