{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The kookaburra is one of Australias most recognizable native birds and has long been woven into the countrys cultural identity. Famous for its loud, laughing call, the kookaburra is often associated with the open landscapes of the Australian outback. Its presence has been celebrated in music, stories, and film for generations. The Perth Mint has regularly featured this iconic bird in its bullion coin programs. Right now, 2026 Australian Kookaburra 1 Kilo Silver Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
All 2026 Australian Kookaburra 1 Kilo Silver Coins offered by Provident Metals are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The 1 kilo size is the largest coin produced in the Silver Kookaburra series, making it a popular option for collectors who appreciate substantial silver weight. The 2026 release carries an unlimited mintage, meaning production will continue throughout the year based on customer demand.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 Australian Kookaburra Silver Coin displays a left-facing image of King Charles III. Designed by Dan Thorne, this uncrowned portrait marks the first appearance of His Majesty on Australian coinage. The clean and modern design reflects the beginning of a new era for coins issued under his reign. The inscriptions here include CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, and 30 DOLLARS.
Reverse
Shown on the reverse of the 2026 Kookaburra 1 Kilo Silver Coin is a single kookaburra depicted in flight above a coastal background. The scene highlights the birds natural surroundings and behavior. Kookaburras are well known for their group calling habits, especially during early morning and evening hours when families gather to produce their familiar laughter-like calls. Inscriptions here include KOOKABURRA, 2026, 1 KILO 9999 SILVER, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint.
History
Kookaburras are known for their ability to live comfortably in a wide range of environments throughout Australia. While they are commonly found in forests and wooded areas, they are also frequent visitors to parks, farms, and residential neighborhoods. These birds prefer locations with large trees that provide nesting spaces and elevated resting spots. From these perches, they scan the ground for food. Their flexibility has allowed them to thrive even as landscapes have changed due to human development.
