History
In 301 AD, Armenia became the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion under King Trdat III. Gregory the Illuminator baptized the king and royal court in the Arax River, establishing the Armenian Apostolic Church. This event occurred before Christianity was formally recognized by Rome and has shaped Armenian culture and identity for centuries.
