Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 Armenian Noah’s Ark Gold Coin showcases the Armenian coat of arms. This national emblem was officially adopted on April 19, 1992. It features a lion and an eagle positioned as supporters beside a shield. Both animals represent symbols used throughout Armenias early history, connected to the powerful kingdoms that once ruled the region. The shield contains four sections with heraldic designs, and at the center is a small image of Noahs Ark placed above Mount Ararat. The inscriptions here include REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA, 100 DRAM, 1 G AU 999.9, and 2026.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2026 Noah’s Ark 1 Gram Gold Coin depicts Noahs Ark as the centerpiece of the design. A dove carrying an olive branch flies toward the Ark, symbolizing peace after the floodwaters receded. Behind the Ark, Mount Ararat rises into view beneath the sun, representing the location traditionally believed to be where the Ark came to rest. The inscriptions around the outer edge include the words Noahs Ark written in Armenian and English.

History

Biblical tradition tells the story of Noah building the Ark to survive the coming flood. Noah, his family, and animals entered the Ark two by two before rain fell for forty days and forty nights. The floodwaters covered the earth and remained for one hundred and fifty days before beginning to fall. Eventually, the Ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. After releasing a raven and then a dove, Noah saw the dove return carrying a freshly plucked olive leaf, showing that land was beginning to appear again.
