{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The United States Mint launched the American Gold Eagle bullion series in 1986, and it has remained a yearly release ever since. In 2026, the program marks its 40th anniversary, and the mint honors that history by issuing the familiar 22-karat Gold Eagles with their time-tested designs. Right now, 2026 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins in certified condition are available online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each of these certified 2026 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins arrives sealed in a sturdy plastic slab to protect its finish. An MS69 grade indicates a coin that looks nearly flawless, retaining full mint luster with no more than two tiny imperfections. Those small detractions are usually faint contact marks or light hairlines that sit away from the key focal areas. Coins labeled Early Release were submitted to NGC within 30 days of the mints release window.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2026 American Eagle Gold Coin, the mint uses the enduring Lady Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. First introduced in 1907 for the $20 Double Eagle, it shows Liberty striding toward the viewer with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The inscriptions include LIBERTY and 2026.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2026 Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin features Jennie Norris modern interpretation of the bald eagle. Added to the series in 2021 after a 2020 redesign, this close-up left-profile portrait highlights the eagles strong gaze and fine feather details. The inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 10 DOLLARS, and 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD.
History
Fractional Gold Eagles, including the 1/4 oz size, were part of the original series created by the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985. The 1/4 oz coin has been offered since 1986, giving buyers an option that contains one-quarter troy ounce of 22-karat gold while carrying a $10 legal tender value. This smaller format has long appealed to investors who want a more flexible entry point into gold ownership.
