{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The American Gold Eagle will mark its 40th anniversary in 2026. This series has offered four different weights since it launched in 1986, including the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz coins. The 1/2 oz Gold Eagle is the largest of the fractional options and has been available from the start. Right now, Provident Metals has 2026 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins in stock.
Highlights:
These 2026 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Coins are available individually in plastic flips or in tubes of 40 for bulk buyers.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2026 American Eagle Gold Coin features Lady Liberty in a bold pose created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. She is shown walking forward with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Behind her, you can see the U.S. Capitol, a rising sun, and a circle of stars. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, 2026, and the ASG signature mark.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2026 Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin is an image of a bald eagle’s head in profile. This design by Jennie Norris first appeared in 2021 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the series and shows the eagle with lifelike detail. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 25 DOLLARS, and 1/2 OZ FINE GOLD.
History
Since the beginning of the Gold Eagle Series, all four weights have been available each year. However, the 1/2 oz coin saw its highest sales in 1986 with a mintage of 599,566. While other weights saw increased interest in later years, especially in the late 1990s and early 2010s, the 1/2 oz coin has not topped its first-year total.
