Obverse
On the obverse of the 2026 American Eagle Gold Coin is Augustus Saint-Gaudens well-known Lady Liberty design, first seen on the historic $20 Double Eagle. Liberty strides forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The Capitol building appears in the distance, sun rays rise behind her, and stars line the rim to complete the classic look. Inscriptions include LIBERTY and 2026.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2026 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin features the modern bald eagle portrait created by Jennie Norris in 2020. This close-up view highlights the eagles head in sharp, realistic detail, giving the national symbol a clean, updated style. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 25 DOLLARS, and 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.
History
When the US Mint introduced the Gold Eagle program in 1986, it included four weights: 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz. The mint has continued issuing all four sizes each year to keep up with demand from buyers and collectors. Still, production levels for the 1/2 oz coin have shifted over time, reflecting changes in the gold market and major events such as Y2K concerns, the Great Recession, and the COVID-19 era.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order.
