These 2026 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins are presented in near-perfect condition. Coins graded MS69 display bright original mint luster with no more than two tiny imperfections. Any visible flaws are slight, such as small contact marks or faint hairlines, and they must appear outside the main focal areas. First Strike coins are those submitted to PCGS within 30 days of the mints original release.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2026 American Eagle Gold Coins is the classic Lady Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, first created for the historic $20 Double Eagle. Liberty strides forward in full figure, holding a torch aloft in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Sun rays fan out behind her, the U.S. Capitol is set near the bottom edge, and a circle of stars frames the scene to complete this familiar image. The inscriptions here include LIBERTY and 2026.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2026 Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin features the updated bald eagle portrait by Jennie Norris, introduced in 2020. This newer design presents a close-up view of the eagles head, showing careful detail and a bold, modern look that stands out sharply on the coin. Inscriptions here include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 25 DOLLARS, and 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.
History
The 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle offers a useful middle option for gold buyers. It provides more gold than the smallest fractional pieces while remaining more accessible than the full 1 oz coin. Over time, mintages for this denomination have generally been lower than 1 oz issues but higher than the smallest sizes, reflecting steady interest from collectors and investors alike.
