The American Gold Eagle series reaches a major milestone in 2026 with its 40th anniversary. Introduced in 1986, this program has long served as the United States Mints primary gold bullion offering. When the series first launched, four weights were available: a 1 oz coin and three fractional sizes. Among those fractional options, the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle has consistently been the most widely chosen. All American Gold Eagles are 22-karat gold coins with 91.67% purity. Right now, 2026 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins in certified condition are available from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives in a protective slab!
  • 40th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle!
  • Limited availability of certified perfect coins!
  • Contains 1/10 troy oz of actual gold content.
  • Bears a face value of $5 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • Issued a Grade of Mint State 70 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.

Each 2026 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin is delivered in a sealed slab and carries an MS70 grade from PCGS. Mint State 70 coins are perfect examples, showing full original luster and no visible flaws under normal viewing. First Day of Issue pieces are those submitted to PCGS for grading within 24 hours of the mints official release.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 American Eagle Gold Coin displays Lady Liberty in the classic Saint-Gaudens design. Created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907, this artwork shows Liberty in full-length relief facing forward. She walks toward the viewer holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The Capitol building appears in the background with sun rays and a ring of stars completing the scene. Inscriptions include LIBERTY and 2026.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2026 Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin is the current bald eagle portrait. First introduced in 2021 for the series 35th-anniversary refresh, Jennie Norris design features the eagles head in left-profile relief with sharp detail. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 5 DOLLARS, and 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD.

History

Most 1/10 oz Gold Eagles are struck at the West Point Mint, while proof and burnished issues offer added variety for collectors beyond standard bullion strikes. With nearly forty years of continuous production, this fractional Gold Eagle has proven to be a steady option for investors and a straightforward starting point for anyone new to gold coins.
